How
do I register or transfer a domain name?
There are several ways you can get a domain name (Web
address) for your account. Domain names are managed
by organizations called "registrars." Metanet can submit
a domain name registration request, or a transfer request
for you, or you can register/transfer a domain name
yourself.
Can
Metanet Register a domain for me?
To have Metanet submit a New Domain Name Registration
Request for You: When you request that we submit
your domain name registration for you (during the
setup of your account), we submit your domain name
registration to Enom, Inc or Network Solutions if
you choose. We use the contact information you give
us at the time of setup as the registrant (legal
owner), administrator, and billing contact(s). Though
we submit this request for you, Metanet is NOT RESPONSIBLE
for the domain's processing fees. Enom Inc. charges
a $19 fee annually and Network Solutions charges
a $35 fee annually. Your billing contact will receive
an e-mail from Enom Inc. instructing them on how
to remit payment for the domain name. Domain names
not paid within 30 days are placed on hold by Enom
Inc. or NetSol. Metanet is not responsible for domain
names that are already registered by other organizations
or registered incorrectly. We also do not perform
registrations with any registrar 's other than Network
Solutions or Enom Inc.
For Enom, we will set up a username and login and
provide this login to you, so that we may manage
your domain registration. You will be able to access
your domain at www.enomcentral.com
Can
Metanet Transfer a domain for me?
To
have Metanet submit a Domain Name Transfer Request
for You: When you ask us to submit a transfer request
to your registrar for you, Network Solutions sends
an e-mail to your current administrative and technical
contacts to confirm your domain name transfer.*
(To check the current contacts of your domain name,
you can go to http://www.internic.net/whois.html.)
At least one of these contacts must confirm the
request for it to be completed. The process can
take between 5 - 7 business days provided the contact
and e-mail information is current. Important Note:
If your domain's contact information is no longer
valid, the owner of the domain must send a fax,
on company letterhead, to Metanet. The letter must
indicate the Owner 's authorization for Metanet
to host the domain name. Please make sure to include
the owner's signature. If the fax does not include
all of this information, we will not be able to
process the transfer. All faxes should be directed
to METANET HOSTMASTER. Our fax number is 1-212-202-5424
* If your domain is being transferred from Worldnic
or if you registered a domain name with Register.com
after June 1, 1999, we need you to provide a user
login/account number and password for us to transfer
your account. You can e-mail this information to
support@metanethosting.com. For Enom, we will set
up a username and login and provide this login to
you, so that we may manage your domain Transfer.
You will be able to access your domain at www.enomcentral.com
How
do I Register or Transfer a Domain myself?
You can register or transfer a domain name with a desired
registrar yourself. To successfully allow the registrar
to point your domain name to our Web servers, your registrar
requires information about our domain name servers (DNS).
Our
DNS information is below:
Primary
HostName: ns1.metanethosting.com
Primary IP: 216.150.11.173
Second HostName: ns2.metanethosting.com
Secondary IP : 216.150.26.239
To
register a new domain with Network Solutions or Enom
yourself, you can go to http://www.networksolutions.com/
or http://enom.com. To receive domains from Enom at
our discounted $19 rate, please ask us to create a wholesale
account for you at http://enomcentral.com. To see the
availability of a particular domain name you can go
to http://www.internic.net/whois.html or use the domain
availability tool at the domain registrar's site. Once
your domain has been successfully registered, it takes
24-72 hours for it to be propagated throughout the Internet.
(To check if the domain name is pointing to our servers,
you can go to http://www.internic.net/whois.html.)
When
will my web site be available after it has been Registered
or Transferred?
Until
you have an actively registered or completed domain
transfer, you can use the IP address provided in your
account information sheet to upload and view your Web
site (see "General Account Information," above). Once
your domain name is processed, and is pointing to our
nameservers, you will be able to access your site via
your domain name. Please note that e-mailboxes related
to your domain name will not work until the domain name
is correctly processed and pointing to our name servers.
The Internet will also take up to 72 hours to propagate
this information to everyone in the world. If you have
any further questions about your domain, you can e-mail
our Support Group at support@metanethosting.com.
You are strongly encouraged to upload your site content
to our servers before performing any domain transfer
so that your web site transfer will appear seamless
otherwise you are at risk for a transitional outage.
AT ALL TIMES PLEASE MAKE SURE ANY TROUBLE TICKET REQUESTS
OR REQUESTS TO SUPPORT@METANETHOSTING.COM INCLUDE YOUR
REGISTRATION NUMBER IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR EMAIL.
